GMB, the union for care workers sealed the agreement with Permacare Ltd on Tuesday 19th March following the TUPE of staff after the business transferred ownership.

The agreement means that GMB will represent our members to negotiate pay and conditions, health and safety, and employment-related matters that will benefit our members, and in turn, the residents and the business.

Koulla Flaherty, GMB London Region Organiser said:

“It’s a good day for our members working in this care home, the recognition agreement secures them a place at the negotiating table and the opportunity to work with management to develop better outcomes and opportunities for our members, the residents and the business.

“We appreciate the welcoming approach of the home’s new management in agreeing GMB’s recognition and hope that it serves to encourage others working in the sector to join GMB and help shape the future of their pay and conditions with their employer.

“It is well known that the Social Care sector is on its knees but small important steps like this can make such a difference to our members and their families. All  staff members can now have GMB negotiating on their behalf.”

Indra Rajeevan, Permacare Ltd Director said:

“I am pleased to have signed the recognition agreement and look forward to building a good relationship with the GMB and its members that will make a positive difference for all.”
