BMA staff announce fresh strike date
More than 450 staff working for the British Medical Association (BMA) will take part in further strike…
Staff working for the British Medical Association (BMA) will strike for two further dates on 30 April and 2 May, as their pay dispute continues.
Despite five days of strike action involving more than 450 staff, BMA management have not returned to the negotiating table or improved on their 2.75 per cent offer.
The strike dates will coincide with the Local Negotiating Committees Conference and the rescheduled day 2 of the Medical Students Conference, which was previously cancelled due to staff strike action.
The most recent strike date on 18 April coincided with the Resident Doctors Conference, which was cancelled as a result.
Gavin Davies, GMB Senior Organiser, said:
“Our members are determined to secure a better pay deal for themselves and their colleagues, and they won’t back down.
"The BMA's refusal to listen is an insult to their hardworking staff and risks undermining the democracy of their union.
"The CEO and Board have adopted an untenable position on pay which, coupled with their inaction in trying to resolve the dispute, has already resulted in two conferences cancelled due to strike action, and we don't want to see this happen again.
"We're urging the BMA to put forward a pay offer that starts to reverse our members' pay erosion."
