SEND reforms must recognise 'key role' of school support staff
GMB London Region has today [23 February] reacted to the Government’s announcement it will invest billions…
Dozens of workers from Tower Bridge, the Barbican, the Old Bailey and other famous tourist attractions are set to demonstrate this evening against low pay.
The GMB members, all employed by the City of London Corporation, are angry over a pay offer that amounts to a real terms pay cut.
Anna Lee, GMB Regional Organiser, said:
“Our members are instrumental in the running of major tourist attractions.
“Without these hard working, but low paid staff tourists who come from all over the world would not be able to visit and enjoy these venues - and the Corporation of London would not be able to derive the enormous amounts of revenue from them.
“The Corporation’s offer is not only way below inflation, but it is also an insult to those staff who had a pay freeze imposed upon them last year.
“We are asking the world’s richest square mile to do the right thing by hard working low paid workers.”
When: 17.30hrs, 8 September, 2022
