Fashion Fair Products Ltd open consultation for redundancy following Johnson Publishing withdrawing funding to the UK company

Companies need to follow UK law and I believe Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd have failed to do this, says GMB London

GMB, the union for workers in private services, is urging Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd to abide by statutory regulations as it opens consultations for redundancies after Johnson Publishing withdrawal of funding for the company.

Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd based in Loughton, Essex operates with Debenhams and also online to provide beauty products to consumers.

Keith Dixon, Regional Organiser said:

“Workers within the company have not been paid since April 2018 during which they have been given false claims of “changing the date of payment of your wages” and “We will be working over the weekend toward a resolution.” None of these promises occurred and has resulted with no wages being paid leaving employees borrowing money to survive.

“Despite not paying their employees the company have failed to respond to communication from employees, GMB and also ACAS.

“The situation has continued to highlight serious failings of the company and during a conference call yesterday, attended by Keith Dixon, a company representative announced that Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd was opening consultation for redundancy which will affect all UK employees.  In addition to this it was stated that the company also plan to enter a CVA to safeguard the company.

“The company representative did not understand UK law regarding the correct consultation process and the discussion resulted in requesting that guidance was sent to assist them.

"I am appalled by the way in which loyal employees within Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd are being treated.  These employees have not received any wages since April 2018 and are receiving false promises and false hopes from the company.

“Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd is clearly looking after the company and not their dedicated workforce.  Burying their head in the sand is clearly no way to run the business successfully.

“Following the conference call I have written to the company to air my views of the way in which they have treated all employees and also to advise the company that GMB will be progressing the matter through a legal channel to recoup any money outstanding to our members.

“Companies need to follow UK law and I believe Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd have failed to do this.

“If you are an affected employee within Fashion Fair Beauty Products Ltd please contact me as a matter of urgency.”
