GMB professional drivers branch organise meeting to address areas of concern in the Hatfield and Welwyn area.

I am sure when we sit down with the local authority and enforcement agencies we can deliver some positive outcomes for our members says GMB London.

GMB, the Union for Professional drivers, have organised a meeting for Hackney and private hire drivers operating within the Hatfield and Welwyn area.

This meeting follows on from a very positive meeting attended by over sixty hackney and private hire drivers earlier in the year, where many joined GMB to ensure they have a collective voice to air their concerns that are affecting their trade in the local area.

Concerns that will be addressed include an increase in UBER drivers operating within the area, cross border working, enforcement, licensing and the need for a 'living fare'.

The meeting will be held on Thursday 23rd February 10:00 am start at:

Roe Hill Hall
Briars Lane
Hatfield
AL10 8EY

Hatfield Council along with the local enforcement team have also been invited to attend and speak at the meeting.

Mick Lancaster GMB London Regional Officer said:

"I am really looking forward to this second meeting with the Hatfield drivers and hope it is full of enthusiasm and participation as last time.

GMB have delivered many positive changes for Professional drivers across local authorities and the capital.

I am sure when we sit down with the local authority and enforcement agencies we can deliver some positive outcomes for our members here too."

Steve Garelick, Branch Secretary of GMB Professional Drivers Branch, said:

“The message here is being duplicated country wide showing change is needed to protect and improve drivers incomes.

“Since the first meeting I have had positive dialog with the local authority licensing department on some common issue of concern such as UBER and they seemed open minded in relation to fare increases.”
