Royal Parks gardeners take further strike action

Dozens of outsourced gardeners working for the Royal Parks will take part in a second round of strikes in a row over pay.

The gardeners, who look after London's most prestigious parks, including Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and St James's Park, voted 95 per cent in favour of strike action last month after their employer Idverde offered them a 70p an hour pay rise.

They will now take part in further strike action after Idverde failed to deliver an improved pay offer.

Anna Lee, GMB Regional Organiser, said:

"Our members are skilled, experienced professionals who create and maintain our capital's world-class parks.

"They love their jobs, but they know what their labour is worth and they will not back down until they get a fair pay offer.

"It's time Idverde got back round the table and offered a decent pay rise."
