Amazon workers walkout over pathetic pay offer
Workers are seeking a £2ph rise to better match the demands of the role and cope with the cost of living…
GMB has reacted to news that Amazon plans to close its fulfilment centre at Marston Gate, Bedfordshire.
While Amazon has indicated that staff could be moved elsewhere, including a new facility being built in Northampton, GMB has raised concerns that relocation will be challenging for some staff.
Mick Lancaster, GMB Regional Organiser, said:
"The decision to close a depot may be a simple one for the likes of Amazon, but the decisions our members face over the coming months won’t be so easy.
"We know many of our members live in the local area and have planned work around caring responsibilities and other family commitments.
"GMB is committed to working with and supporting its members through these uncertain times."
