Hundreds of Veolia Brent refuse workers are set to receive an above-inflation pay rise, negotiated by GMB Union.
Employees earning the London Living Wage will receive an increase of 6.7 per cent, while those earning above it will receive an increase of 4.5 per cent.
After an improved offer was made by Veolia following negotiations, GMB members voted overwhelmingly in favour of the deal in a ballot of all members.
Jack Phipps, GMB Regional Organiser, said:
"Like all councils, Brent cannot run without the hard work of our refuse members.

"We are pleased that Veolia improved their offer - as a result GMB members voted resoundingly to accept an above-inflation deal.
"Wherever you work, being in a strong and active union means we can negotiate for a fair deal and make work better."

GMB Union Rep Mark Howell said:

"Our members work hard and deserve a pay deal that takes into account the cost of living. Any deal below inflation isn't a a pay rise - it's a pay cut in real terms.

"This pay deal shows the difference the GMB and its members can achieve together."
