GMB will recommend rejection of the pay offer

GMB senior reps across Local Government, Councils and Schools met today (10/08/21) to discuss the NJC Employer Pay Offer for 2021/22.

School staff, refuse collectors and council workers have kept our country moving throughout the coronavirus crisis, often putting themselves in harms way. Therefore, GMB senior reps are disappointed that the Employer has tabled an offer of a woeful 1.75% pay increase, which is a pay cut in real terms.

Local Government & School workers know they need, and deserve, a proper pay rise and GMB will be recommending members REJECT this pay offer.

What happens next?

A consultative ballot on the offer will begin very soon. Your local GMB branch or office will contact you with details of the consultative ballot process and let you know how to make sure you have your say on pay.

Only GMB members will get to vote in our ballot. If you have colleagues who are not in a union, it is not too late for them to also have their say on pay as they can join GMB online at www.gmb.org.uk/join

To ensure you that you can vote in the consultative ballot, please make sure your email address, workplace details and membership contact details are up to date. If you need to update your membership details, please email london.membership@gmb.org.uk.
