Dear Member

As the new school year begins, so will the NJC consultative pay ballot for 2022/23.

The offer from the Employer was received on 25th July and covers all employees in Local Government and Schools (and Academies that follow the NJC). The online ballot will open on Monday 5th September and you will be sent details of the offer and how to take part very soon. Additionally, GMB London will be visiting many schools across the Region to meet with members and carry out workplace ballots.

We have put together some FAQs that provide information on additional hours, changes to hours and TTO holiday pay. As always, there will be an ongoing programme of visits to schools and if you would like to request a visit to your workplace please contact us at schoolsteamlondon@gmb.org.uk

As part of GMBs commitment to make work better, and in light of what members in schools told us, a campaign was launched for free school meals for support staff. These meals were offered historically and reinstating them could make a real difference for members at this time, as would the introduction of universal free school meals for all pupils. If you haven’t already signed up to support this campaign you can do so here. You have until 30th September and after this date we will be in touch with an update of what is happening in your area.

GMB London is here to support you and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Also, just a reminder to have a look at www.gmb.org.uk/extra and check out if there are benefits you could be making use of with your membership.

We will be in touch again next week with details of the online ballot so that you can have your say on pay.

Kind regards

Lisa Bangs
