GMB London to support Newham march against academisation on Monday 26 February

We have been working tirelessly in engaging with schools to help them see that academisation is not the answer says GMB

GMB, the union for schools support staff will support the march against academisation in Newham today (26 February).

The details of the protest are as follows:

Assemble from 5:15PM and March: 5:30PM

Plashet Park, E12 (Woodhouse Grove Entrance)

Marching to East Ham Town Hall to lobby Newham Councillors, ending at 328 Barking Rd, London E6 2RP.

Gordon White, Regional Officer said:

“GMB has been working tirelessly in engaging with schools to help them see the academisation is not the answer.

“We are very concerned community schools are being bundled up to privatise our children’s education. This march is an opportunity to tell the council that they need to support schools to reassure them that they can stay as community schools.

“It's essential that our members voices are properly represented. we’re always seeking, not always successfully to make decision makers listen to reason.

“Without GMB leading on this matter the voice of the dissent would be muted or worse still silenced."
