Industrial action threat avoided as Islington traffic wardens secure pay deal

Civil enforcement officers responsible for parking enforcement in Islington have secured a two year pay offer, removing the possibility of industrial action in the borough.

The workers, who are employed by NSL on behalf of Islington Council, will receive 8.3 per cent in the first year and 5 per cent in the second, along with 2 additional days of annual leave and an increase in allowances.

The deal comes after months of negotiations and pay ballots threatened to end in deadlock, with a formal industrial action ballot looking increasingly likely.

GMB members have now accepted this latest offer, taking strike action off the table.

"We are delighted to have reached a deal that will see GMB members getting a real terms rise in their pay packets.

"The strength and engagement of members meant they were able to hold out for an offer which recognises their value and the rising cost of living in London.

"This result shows what constructive negotiations between unions and employers can achieve."
